The chess club will meet at McAlister’s Deli located at 19930 W Catawba Ave, just off I77 Exit 28 Cornelius. A short drive for most coming from Charlotte down I77 or I485. Now even faster when using toll lanes. Usually 20 to 35 minutes from most anywhere in Charlotte.
Participants must be members of the US Chess Federation, https://new.uschess.org/home/. We love kids but this club is intended for adults or young adults. Players must be 13 and above to play. Management encourages players to dine in before games if possible, which helps support our club space. We ask that you don’t bring any food or beverage to the club.
$1 for members, $5 for non-members. Club membership is $25 for 12 months.
Players must register to play before the round starts at 7:15 pm. We encourage players to text or email at least one hour, or more before game, if possible, with intent to play. This gets you registered and helps us begin games on time. If players are running late, you may call or text 704-608-7649 prior to the round and ask to be paired. Unless you have registered or called ahead to be paired you should be inside McAlister’s not later than 7:00 pm to register. McAlister’s closes at 10pm and we must start games promptly at 7:15 to be within our time control. This also allows you to finish your chess game earlier in the evening than at any other chess club in Charlotte area. Thank you for your cooperation.
G/75; delay 5
Each player receives 75 minutes plus 5 second delay each move to complete each game.
Parings: We will be using modified pairings to match players more closely with opponents in order to create best playing experience for all.
If you would like to pre-register with your intensions to play, or have questions email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Debs Pedigo at 704-608-7649, it would be appreciated. Website http://lakenormanchess.com/

The rated games simply mean we track history of your game’s wins, losses or draws thru USCF, (United States Chess Federation). This will not only give you a chess rating but also a historical record of your games and a graph of rating and statistics you may follow to gauge your improvement in this great game. A rating also allows organizers to pair your games with persons of similar rating for the enjoyment of all.
